With just days to go before hundreds of cyclists take to the roads in Fort 91原创, there weren鈥檛 many available registrations left for the 2024 .

An online 鈥渓ast chance to register鈥 notice posted by organizers said there were 鈥渓imited spots available鈥 for the Sunday, June 9 event and riders should sign up no later than midnight on June 4.

They鈥檝e also announced there will be road closures on the day of the event, which will begin and end at Eagle Acres Dairy Farm at 8796 240 Street.

River Road from 240th Street to Mavis Avenue will be subject to 鈥渢emporary and intermittent鈥 closures between 8 a.m.and 9:30 a.m., while 240th Street from River Road to Rawlison Crescent will only be open to residents between 7 a.m.and 3 p.m.

Businesses on Glover Road will be accessible as normal. Traffic controllers and signage will be in place.

Cyclist will begin riding at 8 a.m. with the the finish line closed by 3:30 p.m.. Routes will range in length from 120 km, to 85 and 50 kms, with a less demanding 20K Family Fondo ride through Fort 91原创.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Eagle Acres, a free family-friendly festival will provide live musical entertainment, a barbecue lunch, beer garden, information booths, and activities for all ages.

Last year, a sold-out Valley Gran Fondo drew 1,400 participants, including people from as far away as Germany, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.

A portion of Applewood Valley Gran Fondo registration fees is used to help support local charities.

As well,donations are being collected to support youth cycling programs in British Columbia and across Canada, administered by Cycling Canada with the support of Cycling BC,

are mass participation cycling events that have been popular in Europe for decades.
