Three North 91原创 Bears teams competed over the weekend of Oct. 14 and 15.

The Bears Peewee team dropped their second straight game on Saturday, falling to the first place Abbotsford White Falcons.

While the Bears didn鈥檛 come up with the win, they held the Falcons to their lowest point total of the season in the 14-0 loss.

Benjamin Evans had a great game for the Bears, completing several long passes, mostly to Evan Hoy.

The Bears defense was strong, led by Talon Schroeder who had a forced fumble and several tackles for losses. Reece Fennell also had a fumble recovery.

Aiden McMurtry and Lucca Patterson also pushed the Falcons back.

The Bears look to get back in the win column next week in Chilliwack.

The North 91原创 Junior Bantam Bears were away this weekend as they took on the Chilliwack Giants blue team on a cold Saturday afternoon.

The Bears would send a message on their first play. From their own 45 yard line #65 Taylor Bear and #64 Noah Look would make a hole you could drive a truck through allowing #20 Jaun Vale to start the offense off with a 35 yard run. The Bears would capitalize on this quick start and continue down the field to run the ball in for the first touchdown of the game.

The Giants would answer back right away with their own string of plays to make it one touchdown each.

But as the game continued on the Bears stayed true to form. Throughout the season we have seen exceptional individual skills and sacrifice but it is how the Bears work together as a team that seems to be what gives them their success. Each player understanding that they have a role and giving their all in the role they play.

Today would be no different. The O-line worked together to give the backs a good start and the QB time to look down field and make decisions.

The backs got ahead of the ball carrier to provide the lead blocking to move the team just a bit further down the field. Receivers Marco Kee, Braedon Vanmuyen, and Levi Brecknell ran their routes to give the Bears passing options that included a good catch by Brecknell in traffic. They also threw their bodies in the way at times providing one last block needed to help the team get that first down or touchdown. Brecknell made one such play when he made sure that the Giants corner that was covering him was not going to get in the way of a Bears touchdown. And the Bears special teams led by kicker Tyson Hoy who would provide some great blocking and running and would complete 3 out of 4 of the converts.

The Bears defense who would not be outdone holding the Giants to only 12 points. The linebackers and D-line forced the Giants to scramble and move laterally instead of down field. The Bears secondary would provide great coverage causing more incompletions than completions as well as some outstanding tackles to prevent the Giants from scoring.

With a great team effort the Bears beat the Giants 30-12 and continue their winning streak.

At the midget level on Sunday, the North 91原创 Kodiaks took their show on the road to Bear Creek Park to battle the North Surrey Bears.

North Surrey held a 12-0 lead going in to the 2nd quarter until Kodiak RB Drey Blair got his team on the scoreboard and Charlie May kicked the convert to make it 12-7.

North Surrey took the ensuing kickoff all the way back for a touchdown then added a two point conversion to take a 20-7 lead into half time.

The Kodiaks managed to gain some momentum in the third with a safety making the score 20-9. The Kodiaks kept the ball rolling with a 40 yard touchdown pass from Isaiah Key to Luke Chalk with Charlie May kicking the convert to close the gap to 20-16.

It looked like North Surrey had taken control of the game for good when they took a Kodiak fumble and returned it for a touchdown extending their lead to 27-16.

The Kodiaks, however, never gave up, and in the middle of the 4th quarter Drey Blair ran another touchdown closing the lead again.

The Kodiaks managed to get the ball back with an onside kick, and once again their ground game went to work with Drey Blair getting his third touchdown of the game.

Charlie May converted again to give the Kodiaks the lead for good as the game ended 29-27 for the Kodiaks.

Nick Lacroix, Yunjae Boo, Kalum MacPherson and Austin Benzel lead the way defensively for the Kodiaks. The Kodiaks face North Delta at home at MacLeod Athletic Park this coming Saturday.
