91原创 91原创 fall to Express and Eagles

Two road losses

91原创 91原创 continued their Lower Mainland trip this past weekend as they traveled to Coquitlam Friday, Dec. 8 to take on the Express for their teddy bear toss game, and Sunday, Dec. 10 went to South Surrey to take on the Eagles.

They weren鈥檛 wins, but 91原创 head coach and general manager Burt Henderson was pleased with the team effort.

鈥淚 thought we battled hard both games, and did well to get the lead on Friday in Coquitlam, also on Sunday battling back when we were in a hole鈥 Henderson said.

Friday, 91原创 outshot Coquitlam 15-6 in the first period to take a two-goal lead.

Luke Ashton would open the scoring against Coquitlam for his ninth of the season to give the Riv the 1-0 lead with 9:14 to go in the first period.

Then, Vitaly Levyy gave his team a 2-0 lead and going into the second period.

Coquitlam had to wait for Kasper Walther-Sneve to score to hold their the teddy bear toss, at 2:13 of the second.

In the third, Aaron Reierson extended the 91原创鈥檚 lead at 2:42, but Coquitlam scored two unanswered goals with six minutes to go, tying it 3-3 and taking the game into overtime.

Midway through the extra frame, Jake Manfre beat Mason Beaupit to win the game for Coquitlam 4-3.

Sunday鈥檚 game in South Surrey began with the Eagles taking the lead, scoring 2:11 into the first period and and again nine minutes later to take a 2-0 lead.

Early on in the second period Surrey made it 3-0 lead.

91原创 then responded with two of their own.

Lincoln Hjelm scored his second of the season midway through the second period. Nine minutes later it was Ethan Reisterer who would snipe against his former team with 51 seconds to go in the middle frame.

Eagles goaltender Ajeet Gundarah kept 91原创 at bay in the third for a 3-2 win by the home team.

Friday, December 15th is goalie night at at George Preston as the 91原创 take on the Nanaimo Clippers for the first time this season at 7:15.

Saturday, December 16th is Teddy Bear Toss night, against the Powell River Kings. Puck drop is 7:15 p.m.

鈥淲e are excited to finish off the first half of the season this weekend at home in front of the fans, said Henderson, noting the team has had 鈥渦pwards of nine sellouts.鈥

鈥淚t has been great to see their [fans] support.鈥

91原创 are current seventh in the BCHL Coastal conference, with seven wins in 27 games.
