In an interview live-streamed by the Wellington International venue, Foster described the course as 鈥渜uite technical, quite difficult.鈥

鈥淚 thought it was actually a great course for a Nation鈥檚 Cup,鈥 Foster said.

鈥淚t kind of nicely eases you into it and then the end of the course has quite a bit of bulk to it.鈥

Asked about the dropped poles, Foster explained 鈥渕y horse has a little bit of a right drift, so I was worried when I was coming out of the triple that I鈥檇 get on the inside track and be a little too close to the front pole.鈥

鈥淎nd my horse listened a little too well, and we ended up off to the left,鈥漵he laughed.

鈥淚 kind of put that on me.鈥

Canadian Chef d鈥橢quipe Ian Millar called it 鈥渁 particularly hard fought Nations Cup.鈥

鈥淚 am so proud of our four riders, they never gave up, right to the end and they worked very well together as a team,鈥 Millar said. 鈥淭hey made all of Canada proud.鈥

It was a CSIO4* (Concours de Saut International Officiel 4) event under the rules of the FEI (F茅d茅ration 脡questre Internationale) with the second highest payouts and a requirement that horses must be seven years old.

Veteran of the team, Olympian and also recent silver medalist from the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games, Beth Underhill, of Mulmur, ON, delivered another strong first round aboard her mount Nikka VD Bisschop. They dropped just one element ended the round on 4 faults. The second round under the lights proved slightly unlucky for the pair, ending with 8 faults.
