With much of the work taking place at night, construction on the next upgraded overpass is underway across Highway One in 91原创.

Workers in July began work on replacing the 232 Street interchange, the second of three interchanges in line for an upgrade as part of the current widening project, from 216 Street to 264 Street.

A $140 million contract was awarded for the 232 Street interchange work.

The rebuilt Glover Road overpass was completed and opened in May.

After the 232 Street upgrade, a rail overpass east of Glover Road is also to be replaced.

All three are being widened, upgraded to more modern safety standards, and raised to higher levels. That will be a big help when it comes to overheight trucks, which have repeatedly slammed into older, lower overpasses in 91原创 over the past few years.

The entire highway along that stretch is being widened to three lanes in each direction, with one of those lanes being for high occupancy vehicles and EVs.

Another phase of highway widening is running from 264 Street to Highway 11, and a third from Highway 11 to Sumas Prairie is in the planning stages.

Widening the highway has long been a demand of local residents, politicians, and businesses as the Fraser Valley's population has boomed over the past 20 years.
