Princesses, superheroes, animals, and devils were among hundreds of costumed kids and adults who went trick-or-treating at Willowbrook mall this Halloween.

Every year on Oct. 31, the mall hosts an indoor trick-or-treat opportunity for parents to bring their kids to from 4 to 6 p.m.

Little Ezra adorned in a tiger costume to match his parents picked out candy from the concierge desk, where the path started.

Sisters Maira and Shanaya arrived early to be one of the first 1,000 to receive a free trick-or-treat loot bag.

Nicole Lotz, marketing director of the shopping centre, said the mall event offers a safe and warm space to bring young kids for Halloween, and also give them an earlier night.

鈥淥r I think people visit us and then they hit their neighbourhood after too,鈥� she chuckled.

This year, Lotz estimates more than 8,000 people went through the mall during the two hours of the event, and within the first hour all the free 1,000 loot bags were given away.

About 75 stores in the mall handed out candy.

鈥淲e鈥檒l definitely do a trick-or-treat again next year. I think it鈥檚 tradition,鈥� she said.

鈥淲e are super excited with the turnout, and happy with the increased foot traffic 鈥� that to us was a success. Seeing all the little ones dressed up is always fun.鈥�

The next event at Willowbrook mall is its annual Jingle Ball charity shopping event on Tuesday, Nov. 21, starting at 6:30 p.m.
