Early voting has wrapped up for the Cloverdale-91Ô´´ City byelection, and local voters who have not yet cast an early ballot will have to mark their X on Monday, Dec. 16 election day.
There are six candidates running in the riding:
• Madison Fleischer, Liberal Party
• Tamara Jansen, Conservative Party
• Alex Joehl, Libertarian Party
• Ian Kennedy, People's Party of Canada
• Pat McCutcheon, Green Party
• Vanessa Sharma, NDP
Despite the ongoing Canada Post strike, according to Elections Canada residents can still vote by mail, but they had to apply for a mail-in ballot online before the end of the day Dec. 10.
For those who registered, votes would be transported by courier.
Early voting at the Elections Canada office in 91Ô´´ City, at 6279 202 Street, also wrapped up on Dec. 10.
Voters can find their polling place by and entering their postal code. Polling places include Simonds Elementary and Uplands Elementary in 91Ô´´ and George Greenaway School in Surrey.
This year, due to the postal strike, Elections Canada was not issuing voter information cards. Residents do not need them to vote, but they will have to show valid ID at the polling place to confirm they are eligible. Polling stations are open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
