An early morning single vehicle crash Sunday, April 21, knocked down a utility pole, cutting power to 120 BC Hydro customers and forcing the complete closure of 52nd Avenue west of 272nd Street for most of the day.
91原创 RCMP said a four-door sedan driven by a 58-year-old man from Abbotsford went off the road while heading eastbound and hit a Hydro pole just before the turn onto 272nd.
Cpl. Zynal Sharoom said the call came in at 5:10 a.m.
鈥淸There were] no injuries, however impairment is believed to be a factor,鈥 Cpl. Sharoom told the 91原创 Advance Times.
鈥淛ust for safety purposes, the area was cordoned off for BC Hydro to remove and replace the pole.鈥
Traffic was closed in both directions while crews worked at the scene.
BC Hydro reported service was interrupted due to a motor vehicle accident at 5:08 a.m. that cut power to an area west of the Trans Canada Highway, north of 40th and south of 58th Avenues, affecting about 3,500 customers.
Power was restored the next day, Monday, April 22, at approximately 3:30 a.m.
