Hundreds of people gathered for the seventh annual Willoughby Dayz event in 91原创鈥檚 Willoughby Town Centre on Saturday, Sept. 9.
Tracey Ehman, event organizer, said 400 passports were given out, one per family.
鈥淲e ran out of those very early in the day,鈥 she told the 91原创 Advance Times.
Unlike usual passports, these were designed specifically for the event with logos of more than 50 participating businesses. People could get their Willoughby Dayz passports stamped by interacting with the business owners or try their sample offerings. Stamps were also collected to enter a draw for a prize.
Ehman said local businesses had donated more than $3,000 in prizes for the event, which will amount to about 25 prize packages worth between $175 and $400.
鈥淚t was a great chance to sample some of the different offerings from local restaurants,鈥 Ehman said.
New this year was a demonstration by members of the Mudo Academy of Martial Arts, where students showed off their martial arts techniques to a large crowd.
鈥淥ne of the owners reached out to me and [asked] to do a performance and I said, 鈥榊eah, of course you can,鈥欌 Ehman chuckled.
鈥淭he whole thing is about featuring and supporting these local businesses, and getting people to realize that so much is just a walk away,鈥 she concluded.
