Whether shopping for the kids, parents, or grandparents, there鈥檚 a series of toys on the market for all ages.
Every Christmas season, 91原创鈥檚 independent toy store 鈥� Toy Traders 鈥� sees an increase in demand for many products, including the Playmobil line of seasonal and year-round Adventskalendar sets, said Tian Welliver, customer service representative.
鈥淚t鈥檚 a good brand for children from toddlers to ages 10 to 12. It鈥檚 something that has become a staple in a lot of family households,鈥� he noted.
This year鈥檚 holiday-themed calendar features a Christmas cookie baking scene, and includes real cookie cutters.
Another popular toy 鈥� the Calico Critter sets, which is a doll-house style toy line with animals dressed up in human clothing.
鈥淲e see a lot of those ones go because they also make their seasonal lines [for] Christmas and Halloween,鈥� Welliver said.
Board games are always popular this time of year, he added, anything for the whole family or for single players.
Welliver said Toy Traders is seeing high demand for the 5-Minute Dungeon and 5-Minute Mystery tabletop games in particular this year.
A newer game called Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza has also been popular, competing in the ranks with Sushi Go games.
鈥淲e also recently started stocking the Lorcana product. Disney came out with their new trading card game and that has been flying off our shelves 鈥� we haven鈥檛 been able to hold it down,鈥� Welliver laughed.
He anticipates Lorcana to grow in popularity, as well.
Funko Pop! figures are also still very popular in the market, after being around for more than a decade.
Welliver believes the six-inch toy has remained in high demand because it comes in thousands of different pop culture themes and characters, in everything from sports, movies, games, and Disney or Pokemon characters. The successful toy company has established itself in the market, and is here to stay, Welliver predicted.
For its holiday theme this year, people can collect the Scrooge, Rudolph, Santa, and other well-known Christmas characters.
鈥滷or the really popular brands trends are easy to see, like Playmobil, LEGO, and Funko鈥� They just go nuts every holiday,鈥� Welliver explained.
Toy Traders has an entire aisle dedicated to the Funko Pop! figures.
For Welliver, he always wanted to work at the local toy store, and said he has enjoy the holidays the most in his three years working there.
鈥淐hristmas just really ignites the store, it makes it shine, it feels like the North Pole. I think one of my favourite parts of working here is the holiday season because I get a chance to help people find the perfect gift for their loved ones, and that鈥檚 probably the most magical part about it,鈥� he shared.
Toy Traders, at 19880 91原创 Bypass, is B.C.鈥檚 biggest independent toy store.
