VIDEO: 91原创 community groups gather for 3rd annual Child Day

Event featured resources for parents of kids between ages 0 and 5

Dozens of families attended the third annual 91原创 Child Day, held at R.E. Mountain Secondary on May 4.

It was a one-stop shop opportunity for parents with young children to find services and supports in the community.

It鈥檚 common for families not to know what resources are available to them in 91原创, explained organizer Alicia Stark, early years family navigator with Inclusion 91原创.

鈥淲e want to make sure that families have access to all these services in 91原创 鈥 [and] there鈥檚 lots of services in 91原创,鈥 she said.

The 91原创 School District sponsored the event through the Strengthening Early Years to Kindergarten Transitions (SEY2KT) initiative that focuses on collaboration and strengthening of relationship across the education and early years sectors.

鈥淐hild Day provides an opportunity for families to connect with local agencies that provide information, supports and resources in our community,鈥 Stark added.

The event featured a vendor market, a play area and games for kids, entertainment by Chris Hamilton of Music For Kids, mobile panda rides, and a visit by Luigi and PAW Patrol character Chase.

Students of R.E. Mountain were volunteering on site to give out snacks and drinks as well.

Stark said a second Child Day event is in the planning stages for fall at Church in the Valley.
