A technical glitch couldn鈥檛 keep the first Alder Groove and Grub show from coming close to its $2,000 donation target.
Aldergrove Business Association president Jodi Steeves told the 91原创 Advance Times because of the problem with a tap app, attendees were unable to use their cards to contribute during the event, held in the Aldergrove Plaza located on the corner of 272nd Street and Fraser Highway, on Saturday, Aug. 26.
As a result, donations in lieu of entry fees had to be made in cash.
Despite that, just under $2,000 will be split between the Aldergrove Food Banks and the Starfish Backpack program that helps hungry students.
It was close to the goal of between $2,000 and $3,000, Steeves announced before the event.

Other than that, the mix of live music, a dance floor, mini doughnuts, margarita slushies, and a beer garden, was a success, Steeves believed.
鈥淭he dance floor was packed,鈥 she said.
Next year, she thinks it might run longer than 5 to 9 p.m.
Food vendors included Veronica鈥檚 Perogies, Brick Alley Bistro, Mr. Taco, and Ooties Hot Mini Donuts.
Live music was provided by Incognito featuring Nadine States.

Aldergrove resident Lori Neville, who worked on the event, was smiling and grooving along with the music.
鈥淚t鈥檚 really fun and I think that it鈥檚 something that Aldergrove needs,鈥 Neville remarked.
鈥淲e need to have fun things in our community.鈥
Events like Groove and Grub, a 19-plus adults event, could draw people from other communities, she believed.
鈥淚 think that Aldergrove is a great community and because we鈥檙e in between 91原创 and Abbotsford, we can [attract] people from both towns, to come and enjoy our events.鈥
