Thousands lost power in Aldergrove on Monday afternoon, Dec. 30, and there is not clear explanation.
Just before 2 p.m., more than 3,000 residents and some businesses lost power west of Blueridge Drive, east of Fraser Highway, south of 56 Avenue, and north of 16 Avenue.
On its website, BC Hydro lists "other" as the cause.
In an email response to The Star, a media relations representative said the crew on site was unable to determine the cause..
"It may have been a branch that landed on the line resulting in the outage, however once they determined the line was clear, it was reenergized within about two hours of the power going out," reads the email.
Residents took to social media in the days following questioning what exactly triggered such a locally widespread outage.
