Parents of students at several 91原创 schools were asked to come and pick up their children on Monday as power failures at the schools were expected to last several hours.
The affected schools were Glenwood Elementary, North Otter Elementary, Wix-Brown Elementary, D.W. Poppy Secondary, and R.E. Mountain Secondary. A closure order for Vanguard Secondary had been lifted after power was restored there.
The that at the elementary level, students would not be dismissed until families arrived to pick them up, but at Vanguard, students were to be dismissed sooner.
Power was out at numerous schools across 91原创, as thousands of homes and businesses were in the dark as a powerful rain and windstorm hit overnight and into the morning of Monday, Nov. 4.
A full 14 schools had reported power failures, but classes were continuing at most of them.

In addition to the schools, 91原创 Township announced that the George Preston Recreation Centre in Brookswood would be closed due to a power failure until further notice, and in Fort 91原创, the Fort 91原创 National Historic site was also closed.
