A 91原创 man has been charged with robbery and obstructing a peace officer after allegedly robbing a bank and then sprinting away from police into a nearby shopping mall.

The July 4 incident began at about 3:30 p.m., when a bank in the 6100 block of 200 Street was robbed.

Witnesses said the suspect pushed his way past tellers and grabbed cash from the counters before running away, said Cpl. Zynal Sharoom, a spokesperson for the 91原创 RCMP.

"91原创 RCMP Frontline officers responded and with the use of video surveillance systems were able to obtain a clear description of the suspect," said Sharoom. "The suspect was then located at Fraser Highway and 91原创 Bypass, however he fled into a nearby mall."

More Mounties, including the 91原创 RCMP Special Response Team headed into the mall and caught the suspect while he was trying to flee again, Sharoom said.

Tyler Jacob Goodine, 26, has been charged with robbery and wilfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer. He is being held in custody pending a July 10 court appearance.
