After spending three days, from Tuesday night through Thursday, keeping streets in 91Ô´´ clear of snow and ice, crews had to pivot to issues with water on Friday.
As usual when there’s a heavy snowfall in 91Ô´´, once it turned to rain sizable puddles appeared on many major roads. The puddles were the deepest near major intersections where drains and catch basins were blocked by several feet of plowed snow.
91Ô´´ Township to clear catch basins in front of their homes to allow snowmelt to drain.
The Township suggested:
• clear any catch basin adjacent to your property, removing snow from its surface, to prevent water pooling and potentially impacting nearby properties
• clear any drains on your own property
• take extra precautions while driving, as puddles may be deeper than they appear
91Ô´´ City and Township operations workers have been out 24 hours a day since the snow began falling, clearing first-priority roads.
The snow affected a number of services around the City and Township, with curbside trash pickup in the City affected on Thursday, and green cart collection suspended for the week in the Township. The Township’s recycling and trash pickup was also affected in some areas.
