An online campaign to help fund a reward and legal fees in the mauling death of a tiny 91原创 dog was almost half-way toward its $10,000 goal as of Monday, Aug. 26.
It was launched by Adrian Tay, one of the owners of Sky, a two-year-old poodle-maltese cross who was attacked and killed by a larger dog during a visit to a park on Vancouver's Second Beach on Aug. 5 鈥� in front of the couple who owned her and their three children.
So far, more than 100 people have contributed to the GoFundMe "Justice For Sky" page "#JUSTICEFORSKY 鈥� Funds for Reward & Legal Fees" at .
On the fundraising page, Tay said the family's lives will never be the same.
"No one should ever have to experience trauma like this, let alone children," Adrian Tay said.
He described Sky as "always the life of every party."
"She would dance for you when she wanted food and be the biggest princess and [roll] over expecting pets on her belly."
Her brother, Zuma, "has spent the past few days sitting around staring at her Sky Towers (Sky's play pen) wondering when shes coming back. At times when he hears someone mention Sky's name he runs around the house looking for her thinking she's returned."
The family is also pushing to have the city and province change regulations "to better protect civilians from possible future dog attacks."
Vancouver Animal Services are trying to locate the owner of the attacking dog.
Tay has posted several screenshots from a video that shows a woman rapidly leaving the scene, with a large tan-coloured dog. The woman has brown hair and is wearing a white T-shirt and salmon-coloured pants.
