The Fort 91原创 Community Association is calling on 91原创 Township to release a report on the future of the village鈥檚 waterfront, eight months after a survey was completed.
The Fort 91原创 Community Association wrote an open letter to the Township council and the community on March 21, noting that the Fort 91原创 Waterfront Park survey closed to submissions on June 17, 2023.
鈥淥ur community鈥檚 participation in this survey was a testament to our collective commitment and vision for the future of this cherished space,鈥 the letter says.
But the association has now been waiting for eight months for further action or updates.
The letter says this has sparked concern in the community.
鈥淲e kindly request any available information on the survey outcomes and a timeline for future communications,鈥 the letter says. 鈥淲e are eager to continue this dialogue, contributing to a process that shapes a waterfront park that is not only a place of natural beauty and recreation but also a symbol of our community鈥檚 unity and strength.鈥
The survey last summer asked residents want they wanted to see in public areas of a stretch of waterfront east of the Jacob Haldi Bridge. That section of the river front includes a parking lot and wooden walkways along the shoreline, an old boat launch, and Haldi House, also known as the former Bedford House restaurant, which has now been vacant for years.
The survey asked about everything from parking and shade trees to performance spaces.
The survey was meant as an update to a previous round of public feedback that was gathered in 2022, when there was a proposal that would have included moving Haldi House and building a mixed-use building, parking and a waterfront park.
