Aldergrove was witness to several police officers searching the area of 271 Street and Fraser Highway Thursday morning, June 6, which resulted in a hold and secure of the Parkside Centennial Elementary.

Around 10 a.m., 91Ô´´ RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area because it had two different licence plates – one on the front different from the one on the rear bumper.

When officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, the suspicious vehicle rammed into the RCMP car and the driver and single passenger fled on foot, explained Cpl. Craig van Herk.

Police dogs were used to track both suspects.

"Officers caught one of the occupants almost immediately," he said.

Due to the close proximity the incident occurred to Parkside, van Herk said a hold and secure was put in place for the school.

A hold and secure involves everyone remaining inside the school while exterior doors are secured. No one can enter or leave the school during such an event.

The suspicious vehicle was towed from the scene, and the second occupant has not yet been located.

Police are still investigating.

If anyone was a witness to the incident or has any dashcam footage from the area between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., they are asked to contact the 91Ô´´ RCMP at 604-532-3200.
