PHOTOS: Thousands raised at Aldergrove car show to fight blood cancer

RIMEX held its seventh annual fundraiser for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada

About 50 cars were on display for the seventh annual car show fundraiser by RIMEX in support of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.

Just under $6,000 was raised for the LLSC, and almost an additional thousand raised for the Abbotsford Food Bank.

In 2017, the company's founder Chris Weston passed away from a rare blood cancer, shared Sarah Laing, sales support at the Gloucester location.

"To honour his memory and contribute to the fight against blood cancers, RIMEX actively supports the LLSC. As a company, we have raised over $80,000 through various fundraising events held annually," she said.

In addition to the classic and vintage cars on display, and bouncy castle and live DJ, RIMEX put out a refurbished rim for attendees to sign.

"It was originally a scrapped rim... we had the paint department paint it white so that kids can doodle on it too," said Alma Lope, accountant at RIMEX, a wheel manufacturer with locations in the Lower Mainland including 91原创.

She said the turnout has been growing over the years to the fundraiser, but this year was a new record.

"Previously, we hadn't seen more than 20 cars," Lope said.

"RIMEX appreciates everyone that came out and all the community support," Laing added.

Lopez and Laing are both looking forward to hosting the fundraiser again next year.
