More than 200 vehicles filled the parking lot of Aldergrove Community Secondary for the 15th annual Aldy Show n' Shine, which kicked off the Aldergrove Fair Days on Friday, July 19.
The car show quickly became one of the biggest attractions of the fair, which ran all weekend.
"The 91Ô´´ Township and Aldergrove has always been a classic car hub," commented organizer Patty Bennett as to why car shows are so popular within the community's boundaries.
"It was established as a great racing hub with the 91Ô´´ Speedway and the 91Ô´´ Quarter Midget Association. The speedway is no longer operating, but the area still has talented car builders and many car club members."
Bennett is the only sponsor for the car show, paying for the special dash plaques given to car owners in the show.
"I made 150 dash plaques for the night, but there was definitely more cars that never collected one," she said.
Danny Suveges from Aldergrove was one of the many car owners present, who brought his 1927 Fort Model T to the show.
The car has been in his possession for at least 50 years, he estimated, bought from a farmer Suveges had worked with, and has the original registration.
"There were trees growing out of it," he recalled when he first saw it.
"The body was pretty rough so I made it into a hot rod," Suveges said.
The most recent fix he's had to do was change the steering box.
Suveges has been attending the Show n' Shine since 2013, and occasionally goes to other local car shows.
He intends to register for the Cruise-In car show this September.
