Three building were demolished within a few days of each other in 91原创 City earlier this month.

Two of the sites 鈥� one the former location of a combined car wash and oil change business, and the other an ageing social housing building 鈥� were torn down to make way for new residential projects, while the owner of the third site, a one-storey building used to house several businesses, was expected to file a development permit application later this year.

At the former Washworld and Jiffy Lube location in the 20100 block of Fraser Hwy., developer Whitetail Homes is planning to build a new six-storey mixed-use apartment building, with construction expected to begin later this year. That鈥檚 according to information provided by the City in response to an 91原创 Advance Times query.

An application for a development permit by Quarry Rock Developments was expected later this year for the site where a one-storey commercial building stood at the entrance to the one-way in the 20400 block of Fraser Hwy., housing tenants that included a cafe, along with a sushi restaurant, alternative heath clinic, and art gallery. Council approval is required prior to new construction occurring.

At the , tenants had to vacate the 68-unit Alder building at 203rd Street and 54A Avenue, built in 1975, long before it was demolished because it was鈥漜ompromised structurally due to soil stability issues,鈥� a Lions relocation plan report advised.

Signs at the site indicated crews had to remove asbestos before the building could come down.

Plans call for replacement of the Alder by an eight-storey building with approximately 198 units, once funding is lined up.
