Two open houses will let 91原创 Township residents learn about and comment on some major proposed changes to the community later this month.
The first is a drop-in open house about the Fraser Highway Employment Lands project to be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Church in the Valley, 23589 Old Yale Rd. from 5-8 p.m.
The Fraser Highway Employment Lands plan is the Township looking at the possible industrial use of about 500 acres of land that stretch between 228 and 240 Streets. None of the land is in the Agricultural Land Reserve, and while some has been developed over the years, much of it remains low-density or zoned as rural properties.
Redesignating the land from rural to industrial use will require approval from the Metro Vancouver Regional District Board.
The planning process is expected to last through much of 2025, and is in the earliest phase now.
Anyone interested in learning more can drop by at the open house.
A week later, another open house will look at the lands around the 91原创 Events Centre, with the LEC 2040 open house.
On Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 5-8 p.m. an open house will be held at the LEC Banquet Hall at 7888 200 Street.
The LEC 2040 plan is about the development of Township-owned land around the LEC site, as the intersection of 80 and 200 Street is expected to become one of three hub transit villages linked by a Bus Rapid Transit route running up and down 200 Street.
The goal for the hub is to create a walkable urban village with housing, businesses, services, public spaces, and recreation areas.
The LEC will be a major destination within the hub.
The Township has also been working on a related 200 Street 2040 plan that covers the entire route from the highway interchange in the north south to the edge of the Willowbrook area around 68 Avenue.
Anyone who wants to learn more or has thoughts about the LEC areas future can come to the open house.
