One killed in boat crash on Fraser River near 91原创

Victim is believed to have been only person on board during Saturday collision

A Saturday afternoon boat crash on the Fraser River near Derby Reach Regional Park killed a 65-year-old man, 91原创 RCMP say.

The crash took place at around 5 p.m. on March 16, on the river near the 21400 block of Allard Crescent, the nearest road, said Cpl. Zynal Sharoom, a spokesperson for the 91原创 RCMP.

A boat, believed to have only one person on board, collided with a metal river piling, Sharoom said.

RCMP, Township of 91原创 firefighters, and BC Emergency Health Services paramedics all responded, and located the victim.

鈥淟ifesaving attempts were administered, however the man succumbed to his injuries,鈥 said Sharoom.

West Coast Marine Services has been brought on to help the RCMP with the accident investigation.

91原创 RCMP are asking anyone who saw the collision, or has information about it, to call them at 604-532-3200, and quote file 2024-8150.
