The 91原创 RCMP detachment will soon have a new top officer, with Supt. Harm Dosange taking over from Supt. Adrian Marsden.

Dosange is a 23-year veteran of the RCMP, and has spent his entire career in the Lower Mainland.

After growing up in Surrey, he worked at the Surrey RCMP detachment as a civilian employee and then as a Surrey RCMP Summer Student, before becoming a Mountie.

Most recently, Dosange has served as the Community Services Officer in Surrey, overseeing the Youth Unit, Emergency Operations and planning, Community Response, and the Diversity and Indigenous Peoples Unit, along with proactive enforcement teams.

He has also previously worked at the 91原创 detachment, where he was a watch commander in 2017.

Outside of official duties, he has been involved in organizing the RCMP Classic basketball tournament, which he competed in as a student himself.

"I am honoured and excited to serve as the Detachment Commander for the 91原创 RCMP," Dosange said. "I am committed to engaging with both municipalities to continue to advance their strategic priorities and keep their communities safe and I鈥檓 looking forward to working with the police officers and support staff at the detachment."

91原创's mayors welcomed the new officer in charge to the job.

"Supt. Dosange is a great choice to lead the 91原创 RCMP, with a wealth of experience in community policing, and having previously served within 91原创," said 91原创 Township Mayor Eric Woodward. "There are many municipal policing priorities for the Township of 91原创 we need to make progress on. Council and I look forward to working with him in the years ahead."

"On behalf of 91原创 City council, I would like to welcome to Supt. Harm Dosange, as the new Officer-in-Charge," said 91原创 City Mayor Nathan Pachal. "We look forward to working closely with him, the RCMP members, and support staff as we implement strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening public safety and enhancing the effectiveness of policing in our community."

Dosange takes up the job as 91原创 Township is attempting to sever its policing from the joint City-Township detachment that has policed both communities for decades.

Township politicians for years have argued that the City uses up more policing resources, and they are attempting to split the local RCMP into two detachments, one for each community.
