Melissa Snazell is running for the BC Green Party in the 91原创-Abbotsford riding in the 2024 provincial election.

The BC Green Party has named Melissa Snazell as its candidate for the 91原创-Abbotsford riding in the October provincial election.

Snazell came out for the first all-candidate meeting in Aldergrove on Sept. 25, at the Kinsmen Community Centre, to introduce herself to the community and collect final signatures she needed.

She has lived in Aldergrove for 12 years, is a registered pharmacy technician, and is currently pursuing a degree in public policy with a focus on climate issues.

"I raised my son here, he just graduated high school... and see the [concerns] of climate issues in town," she told the audience.

"I was hoping to finish my degree before getting started, but the opportunity came up and I jumped in, so here we are."

Her issues of focus are climate change and sustainability.

Snazell will be running against BC NDP candidate John Aldag, BC Conservative Party candidate Harman Bhangu, independent Karen Long, and BC Libertarian candidate Alex Joehl.

The next all-candidate meeting for 91原创-Abbotsford is on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Aldergrove Heritage Hall (3015 273 St.). Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the debate kicking off at 6 p.m.

People with questions for candidates or needing more information can email the 91原创 Chamber of Commerce at events@langleychamber.com.
