A 35-year-old man has been charged in Abbotsford with 19 offences related to him allegedly sending sexually explicit messages to female minors.
Court records indicate that the following charges were recently laid against Michael Jose Vieira:
鈥 one count each of making, distributing and possessing child pornography;
* one count of uttering threats;
鈥 four counts of luring a child under the age of 18;
鈥 four counts of luring a child under the age of 16;
鈥 four counts of trying to obtain the sexual services of someone under the age of 18; and
鈥 three counts of breaching his release conditions.
Sgt. Paul Walker, media officer with the Abbotsford Police Department, said the investigation began when an alleged complainant came forward.
He said the alleged incidents occurred from 2022 to 2025.
鈥淢r. Vieira (allegedly) contacted multiple female minors from the Abbotsford area electronically, sending sexually explicit messages and requesting them to do sexually explicit acts,鈥 he said.
Walker said Vieira was arrested in January, and a search warrant was executed at his residence.
He allegedly breached his conditions in February, resulting in the three additional charges.
Walker said he could not release any further details about the case as it is now before the courts.
Vieira is in custody at this time and is next scheduled to appear in Abbotsford provincial court on April 15.
