A 27-year-old man has been charged with three child-pornography offences in Abbotsford.

According to court records, Ryan Michael Wiebe-Combs has been charged with possessing child porn, accessing child porn and distributing child porn.

The date of all three offences is listed as Nov. 12, 2022.

Const. Art Stele, media officer with the Abbotsford Police Department (APD), said local police were made aware on Nov. 13, 2022 that a person had been sending messages containing what appeared to be images of child sexual abuse.

He said the initial report was made to the 91原创 RCMP, and the investigation showed that the sender was based in Abbotsford.

APD then took over the investigation.

鈥淎bbyPD attended the address in question and, to ensure no child was at risk or harmed, entered the location,鈥� Stele said.

鈥溾�� No children were found to have been, or were being, harmed at the time officers attended, and a male was placed under arrest.鈥�

Stele said a 鈥渓engthy investigation鈥� followed and resulted in charges being laid against Wiebe-Combs, who is no longer in custody.
