91原创 residents got an earful from Roman candles and skyrockets, but there were few other incidents on Halloween night, police and fire crews said.
Fireworks were going off all over 91原创, according to RCMP spokesperson Craig van Herk, who said there were 42 complaints in total, some doubling up on the same incident.
The incidents were spread over all five zones the RCMP uses to patrol 91原创, including in Aldergrove, Walnut Grove, 91原创 City, Brookswood, and Willoughby.
Many of the illicit fireworks displays 鈥 fireworks are strictly regulated in 91原创, as in most other neighbouring communities 鈥 were created by teenagers, with groups of up to 100 kids gathering near some of the sites, van Herk said.
But fortunately, there were no major incidents sparked by the fireworks.
鈥淲e did not have any significant injuries or property damage,鈥 he said.
91原创 City reported a couple of Halloween-night fires, but neither appeared to be linked to the fireworks going off in the community, said fire chief Scott Kennedy.
鈥淚t was noisy, but as far as Halloween-related fire incidents, only two minor incidents,鈥 he said.
There was a trash can fire at 91原创 City Park, and a garbage fire, in a pile of old cardboard, in an alley off the 91原创 Bypass. Both were put out without serious structure damage.
It was a similar story in 91原创 Township.
鈥淗onestly, it was a pretty quite night for our crews,鈥 said Russ Jenkins, 91原创 Township鈥檚 deputy fire chief.
There were no reports of injuries from fireworks or other Halloween-related activities. The firefighters investigated a couple of burning complaints, but that was about it.
