Members of the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team (ERT) were dispatched to 91原创 three times on Tuesday, March 4, with all incidents ending with no one harmed.
The first incident took place in mid-morning, when ERT members deployed to help back up local 91原创 RCMP officers as they dealt with a mental health emergency involving a person in a 91原创 City apartment building, said Sgt. Zynal Sharoom, spokesperson for the 91原创 detachment.
Fortunately, the person involved was taken into custody under the province's Mental Health Act without anyone being harmed.
The second incident took place at around 3:40 p.m., when shots rang out around the 4400 block of 236 Street, near Peterson Road Elementary.
Locals heard a number of gunshots, and a large number of police converged on the area, including the ERT, with an armoured van, and the Air One RCMP helicopter.
A suspect was arrested, and after checking the neighbourhood, 91原创 RCMP said that no one had been harmed. The investigation was still underway on Wednesday, March 5, and investigators could not release further details yet, Sharoom said.
Finally, after nightfall, the ERT was called back for another person in distress. Sharoom said the ERT's expertise was used to rescue the person, and they were taken into custody under the Mental Health Act as well.
