91原创 Township is asking local residents to weigh in on the future of the 200th Street corridor through Willowbrook and Willoughby.

A survey is currently up on the Township website and is collecting answers on a number of questions about what people would like to see for the future of the sizable section of land around the road.

The project, dubbed 200 Street 2040, is a corridor planning process for the stretch of the road running from the highway interchange in the north, down to around 68th Avenue in the south.

The corridor stretches 800 metres 鈥 almost a kilometre 鈥 on either side of the street, and has three major 鈥渘odes,鈥 at 86th Avenue in Carvolth, at 80th Avenue, and at 72nd Avenue.

The goal of 200 Street 2040 is to plan for an 鈥渆merging transit-oriented corridor.鈥

鈥200 Street 2040 represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create transit-oriented communities along a corridor that will see rapid transit in the future,鈥 according to the survey introduction.

In the near future, TransLink is expected to establish a bus rapid transit (BRT) line running down 200th Street from 91原创 City all the way up through Walnut Grove and across the Golden Ears Bridge to Maple Ridge.

BRT lines use their own lanes and can move faster than the speed of traffic during busy times, making them an attractive transit option.

In discussions earlier this year, the Township council also raised the possibility that as the area grows, light rail or even an extension of SkyTrain could be put in place up the 200th Street corridor in the future.

While there has already been a significant amount of development along parts of the corridor, large areas remain undeveloped on either side of the street.

The survey can be accessed online at x.
