BC Highway Patrol is talking to witnesses, reviewing video, and preparing enforcement after a truck hit the rail overpass on Highway 1 in 91原创.
 
Just before 8 a.m. on April 16, a caller to police reported that a westbound box-truck struck the overpass located between the new Glover Road overpass and the one at 232 Street.
 
鈥淭he damage to the overpass appears to be minor. It is hard to distinguish today鈥檚 damage from multiple past overpass strikes at this same location,鈥� said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin, with BC Highway Patrol. 鈥淧olice would like to remind drivers that they have a legal obligation to stop for any collision that might have caused damage.鈥�
 
Police did not locate the driver at the scene of the reported collision, but the driver has been identified and has spoken to police, he explained.
 
鈥淏oth police and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement (CVSE) officers are following up with the driver and owner of the commercial vehicle to determine appropriate enforcement,鈥� said McLaughlin.
 
Traffic volume in the area does not appear to be more severe than the usual rush hour.

"My investigators are still in the process of assessing the vehicle and its load. It turns out it was a flatdeck with a tall load, so I imagine the vehicle is undamaged and only the load might be affected," he told the 91原创 Advance Times. "Leaving the scene of a collision is definitely one of the charges to be considered, and that would be in addition to violating overheight restrictions and any licensing issues."
