Flight museum鈥檚 event on Monday, April 1

The Royal Canadian Air Force turns 100 next month, and the local flight museum is celebrating.

On Monday, April 1, the public are invited to the Canadian Museum of Flight to commemorate 100 years of RCAF service, with up to 16 historic air craft on display, cockpit tours, a salute by local air cadets to veterans, and a special reception for RCAF veterans.

It was on April 1, 1924, when the RCAF was created, after the First World War in which more than 22,000 Canadians served, explained museum president Bruce Friesen.

鈥淲e will be pleased to host all those with connections to the RCAF, veterans and serving members and their families, providing an opportunity to commemorate, reflect, and to look forward,鈥 he said.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., including the air cadet salute at noon and the special reception to conclude the day.

鈥淎s an organization dedicated to bringing British Columbia鈥檚 aviation history into the future, we are well placed to be a place for people to gather on that day,鈥 Friesen said.

The flight museum is located at Hangar 3 on 5333 216th St.
