Golfers can use their skills to raise funds for charity at 91原创鈥檚 Skidmore family鈥檚 annual golf tournament this week.
The Skidmore family and their company hope to raise awareness for 鈥渦nsung heroes鈥 in the community who make a difference.
Garry Skidmore, president of Skidmore Group, said philanthropy is a powerful tool to ignite change.
鈥淲e鈥檙e proud to support the charities and organizations that are doing hard work every day to create a better world,鈥 he said.
Sam Skidmore, an event organizer and family member, said the charity golf tournaments are a powerful way to give back and make every dollar count.
鈥淭hese events are important to me and my family because they align with our values of love and service 鈥 what you do with your life matters,鈥 she said, in addition to the importance of funds raised for charity.
Each year, the charities are chosen through the foundation鈥檚 core pillars of healthcare, community, and education, and under the tournament鈥檚 theme 鈥渋gnite change.鈥
鈥淭he charity partners chosen are intentionally impacting the cities in which we live and work. They serve underprivileged children, youth, and seniors, support individuals struggling with mental illness and addiction, and provide resources to families and caregivers,鈥 Sam said.
A opens on Monday, June 19 at 9 a.m. and closes at the end of the tournament.
GreenTee Country Club (formerly Pagoda Ridge) located at 7887 264th St. is hosting the event.
Visitors can expect a fun day of golf with prizes, games, food, and entertainment. A dinner gala will be held afterwards with a keynote speaker.
The tournament starts with registration at 8:30 a.m on Wednesday, June 21.
Proceeds from sponsors, tickets, golfing fees, and other associated costs will go towards the chosen charities.
Last year鈥檚 tournament raised over $1.5 million for charity, and the family is hoping for similar results.
