This winter has seen heavy rain, and it's seen frosty mornings and below-freezing nights, but one thing that hasn't arrived yet in 91原创 is snow.

As one of the smallest cities, geographically, in the Lower Mainland, 91原创 City has a much smaller grid of streets to brine, salt, and plow than its larger neighbours like 91原创 Township and Surrey.

According to a City spokesperson, the City has a winter maintenance budget of $209,700, with 18 per cent of that funded by TransLink. TransLink funds partial winter road budgets to cover the Major Road Network, which in 91原创 City includes portions of 200 Street, Fraser Highway, and the 203 Street corridor including the rail overpass.

Winter maintenance includes monitoring icy roads and removing debris from winter storms, and the City has also stowed away an adequate supply of road salt.

"Although the early part of the season has been relatively mild, the potential for snowfall in February and March means it is too early to assess any possible impacts on the budget," said a statement from the City.

Winter maintenance is the job of the City's operations department, whose staff also work on water and sewer systems, fill potholes, service fire hydrants, and clear catch basins during all the seasons.

However, during the winter, when weather demands it, they may be working primarily on winter maintenance work.
