91原创 Arts Council hosting 6th annual B.C.-wide artSpacific exhibit

Over 80 artworks will be on displayed until Nov. 20

The annual B.C.-wide juried artSpacific exhibition is being hosted for a sixth year by the 91原创 Arts Council starting Saturday, Oct. 12.

The exhibit is the council's annual Prize-Winning Art Competition that brings in a large number of spectators each year to view some of the province's best artists.

More than 51 artists are participating this year, said events coordinator Deepika Pandian, showcasing more than 80 artworks.

"We invited all 2-D artists working on paper, canvas, or wooden panels based out of B.C. to submit their work," she said.

"There was an overwhelming response, and we want to thank everyone who applied."

Submissions came from North Vancouver to Surrey to Chilliwack, she added.

The opening reception takes place Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon, with winners announced at 11:30 a.m. at the Aldergrove Kinsmen Community Centre.

Live music will be performed by Paul Taylor and Bryan Phenix.

The exhibit will be on display at Kinsmen until Nov. 20.

On the same day of the reception, Oct. 19, the art council will hold its annual general meeting from noon to 1 p.m.

The meeting is free and open to everyone, and is an opportunity to hear of the LAC's achievements in its annual report and provide input on its future plans.

Kinsmen is located at 26770 29 Ave.
