Janda to build more apartments on former Elks Hall in Aldergrove

Development to be adjacent to Aldergrove Town Centre

Another piece of downtown Aldergrove is a step closer to being redeveloped after 91原创 Township council approved a six-storey apartment building.

Council voted to give first and second readings to a rezoning bylaw for a 0.59 acre (0.24 hectare) piece of land in the 27300 block of Fraser Highway, adjacent to the ongoing construction of the Aldergrove Town Centre.

If given final approval, the new development by the Janda Group, which is also developing the much larger adjacent Aldergrove Town Centre will have 44 apartment units and just over 8,000 square feet of commercial space, built on the site of the former Elks Hall.

The nearby Aldergrove Town Centre site, on the former Aldergrove Mall location, is being built into three five-storey buildings, a 10-storey building, and a commercial centre, in phases.

The Township has to approve an amendment to local plans to allow for a building higher than five storeys on the site.

The first two readings of the rezoning bylaws were approved unanimously and without any discussion by the council.

Third and final reading will be considered at a future council meeting.
