If approved, towers would be taller than nearby Vesta project

A developer created by a coalition of local First Nations is proposing a new four-tower residential high rise complex near one of 91Ô´´'s busiest transit hubs.

Sacred Waters Development applied in early June for a rezoning of a lot near the Carvolth Transit Exchange.

If the project goes forward as proposed, it would include four towers, two of them 30 storeys tall, and two 35 storeys tall.

The site is at the corner of 201 Street and 86 Avenue. Areas to the west and east have already been developed, and Vesta Properties' two high rises are just to the southwest across 86 Avenue.

Sacred Waters is a development group created by the Katzie, Kwantlen, and Semiahmoo First Nations, all of which have traditional territory in the 91Ô´´ area.

"The team has a mandate to deliver economic and social development opportunities in the shared territories of the KKS Nations," according to the organization's LinkedIn profile.

If built, the project would have more than 1.1 million square feet of residential floor space, as well as 15,000 square feet of commercial space at the base of two towers, facing 201 Street.

There would be 1,466 apartment units, and 1,746 parking stalls in underground lots are planned. There would also be space for up to 1,503 bicycles, including visitor bicycle spots.

The project is one of several proposed developments that include towers, which have been submitted to 91Ô´´ Township. Areas around the highway interchange, along the 200 Street corridor, and in Willowbrook near the future site of the SkyTrain station there have all seen developers put forward plans for high rises.

The only two high rises in 91Ô´´ at present remain Vesta Properties' Towers at Latimer Heights, which are nearing completion and are 26 and 34 storeys tall.
