A 56-home development that will finish the road and sidewalks near 91原创鈥檚 Yorkson Middle School was given preliminary approval by 91原创 Township council on Monday, May 27.

The Qualico Communities development site lies between 206 and 207A Streets on the north side of 84 Avenue.

If given final approval, it will include 18 rowhouses, 10 semi-detached units, and 28 single-family homes.

The proposal first came before council last November, but council put off making a decision, in light of then-new housing regulations that will allow developers to build fourplexes on any single family lot.

In response, Qualico offered to put a covenant on the properties, to maintain single-family usage on them. The current plan is the same as the one offered in November.

Council approved first and second readings of rezonings for the site unanimously.

Councillor Barb Martens noted that the 5.5 acre development will complete some roads in the area.

That includes the north side of 84 Avenue across from Yorkson Middle, which currently has no sidewalks.
