House fire in South 91Ô´´

Multiple fire halls called out

91Ô´´ Township firefighters battled a house fire in the 21300 block of 24 Avenue on the morning of Friday, Aug. 16.

Crews were called to the scene at around 10:30 a.m., and had to deploy tanker trucks to bring water into the rural area where there are no hydrants.

According to deputy Township fire chief Cory Parker, the first arriving crews at the two-storey house found a fire in the upstairs portion.

The first firefighters on the scene managed to knock down the worst of the fire quickly. Once more firefighters arrived, they extinguished it completely.

All the occupants of the house had gotten outside by the time the first firefighters arrived. One adult man had suffered minor smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Parker said.
