91Ô´´ RCMP said a bomb threat that forced the evacuation of the Walnut Grove Community Centre for more than an hour on Saturday night, June 15, was a hoax.
Cpl. Zynal Sharoom told the 91Ô´´ Advance Times that officers were called to the centre around 7:45 p.m. "for a report of a suspicious item."
"Out of an abundance of caution, we took all necessary steps to make sure that everyone was safely taken out of the area," Sharoom said.
"However, we confirmed that it was a hoax."
By 9 p.m. police stood down.
"The investigation is still open," Sharoom said.
"[We are] trying to figure out who may have done this, looking at video, but it was it was clearly a hoax. There was no bomb or or anything that would have hurt anybody in there."
