Two GoFundMe campaigns are raising money for the family of Wilson Teah Dargbeh, the 34-year-old 91Ô´´ man who drowned in Cultus Lake while celebrating his daughter's birthday.

Dargbeh was swimming near Entrance Bay when he failed to resurface on Saturday, Sept. 7. A major search effort began, including with Chilliwack RCMP and Chilliwack Search and Rescue, but failed to locate Dargbeh. On Sept. 8, an RCMP dive team recovered his body.

He left behind a wife and two children, a six-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter. According to one of the GoFundMe campaigns, the trip to the lake was to celebrate his daughter's birthday.

The first GoFundMe campaign was organized by Dargbeh's employer, the Vehicle Sales Authority, where he worked as a business and policy analyst.

"From the beginning, Wilson positively impacted his colleagues, bringing enthusiasm, kindness, and thoughtfulness to each day," the campaign organizers wrote. "His dedication to his work and his uplifting presence left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered."

.

Another campaign with the same goal was launched by the local Liberian community and RCCG Grace Chapel.

"Wilson had an unwavering determination to succeed, serving the Liberian community, BC and a faithful worker/volunteer in his church RCCG Grace Chapel, B.C.," organizers wrote. "He had a kind and gentle nature that will be cherished by those who knew him forever."

, noting that his wife is unemployed at the present. After coming to Canada to complete his studies and finding work with the Vehicle Sales Authority, Darbegh's family joined him from Liberia in October of last year, the fundraiser says.

"Wilson was the one who took care of everything for his nuclear family in Canada and also helped his extended family in Liberia occasionally," organizers wrote. "As the only breadwinner who is now out of the picture, his loved ones are left to navigate this unimaginable loss, they face the harrowing task of arranging for Wilson's final journey home and the wellbeing of the family going forward."
