One of the most prominent historic homes in Fort 91原创 is for sale, and is set to be moved to a new location in the village.
Marr House, currently known as The White House, was built by Dr. Benjamin Marr at 9090 Glover Road in 1910, and expanded three years later after he married Isabel Drew McIntosh.
His former home, Marr House, is now better known as The Little White House, hosting a boutique and salon caf茅.
A real estate listing last week is offering the site for $3,999,000, but the house itself is not being offered for purchase.
It is to be moved to another site, near Hudson Bay Road and 88 Avenue.
Owner Cheryl Krecsy said her daughter, who manages The Little White House, plans to preserve the original house at the new location.
The real estate listing notes that the property on Glover Road could host a new residential/commercial/office building. Similar mixed-use buildings with ground-floor retail or restaurants and upper floor apartments have been built in recent years.
Krecsy said the plan is that whatever is built on the site will be three stories and built in a similar style to Marr House.
"Nothing is firm as we are in the early stages," said Krecsy.
One of 91原创's first doctors, Benjamin Marr served in the First World War and was one of the originators of the plan to plant trees for each fallen resident after the conflict.
The Marrs were one of the most prominent couples in 91原创, but both died at relatively young ages in the 1930s. Their son, William 'Bill' Marr, would go on to become an aviator and a Second World War pilot, flying DeHavilland Mosquitos over occupied Europe.
He returned to Canada and became an Air Canada pilot, living to the age of 101.
