There鈥檚 a local opportunity to feature an aspiring or professional artist鈥檚 work in 91原创.
The Fort 91原创 Jazz & Arts Festival announced its call for artists earlier this month to design this year鈥檚 banner, which will be hung around the village before and during the annual jazz festival.
This year鈥檚 theme is 鈥渇or the love of music, art, culture, and community鈥� which was picked because these elements are the foundation of the festival, said festival executive director and co-founder Karen Zukas.
鈥淭he artwork should reflect Fort 91原创, the festival, and the theme,鈥� she explained.
Submissions can be a drawing, painting, block printing, photograph, vector, or illustration file. Zukas added that its best if it is big, bold, and vibrant to be seen from the street level.
Incorporating artwork of artists as the festival鈥檚 backdrop started in 2021, which featured artwork of blues musician and artist Hank Leonard.
Aldergrove artist Susan J. Falk was featured in 2022, and last year Walnut Grove artist Lizete Dureault artwork was selected.

鈥淭he community has been the backbone of our festival since day one. Everything that the Fort 91原创 Jazz & Arts Festival has to offer has been made possible by collaborating with our community,鈥� Zukas commented.
She added that supporting underrepresented musicians and providing opportunities for local bands and young or emerging artists is a key part of the festival.
The deadline to submit artwork for the banner is Jan. 31.

The winning design will be announced Feb. 29.
The artist selected will receive a $750 honorarium and an opportunity to exhibit at the Saturday night jazz concert.
The design will be replicated onto festival brochures, posters, postcards, and street banners displayed throughout Fort 91原创鈥檚 downtown core from June to the end of July.
This year marks the seventh annual jazz and arts festival, and runs from July 26 to 28.
