A good time translates into any language, and the Vive les Voyageurs French-Canadian Festival is one such good time on tap for this weekend.

The 14th annual French winter festival returns to the Fort 91原创 National Historic Site on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 20 and 21.

The festival is an opportunity for visitors to discover Francophone culture and practise speaking French, explained Nancy Hildebrand, public relations officer with Parks Canada.

鈥淰oyageurs transported furs between Fort 91原创 and other remote outposts, and also served as language interpreters for the fort鈥檚 trading activities,鈥 she said.

Last year, the festival had more than 900 visitors during the two-day event. The same attendance, or a little more, is expected for this weekend, said Hildebrand.

Visitors can enjoy interactive cultural experiences from learning Metis dances to sampling maple taffy, and celebrate the importance of trappers, interpreters, and voyageurs who helped shape the history of this site 鈥 and of Canada.

鈥淧arks Canada invites everyone to learn more about French-Canadian culture at Vive les Voyageurs,鈥 Hildebrand said.

Parks Canada has been hosting this festival since 2010 and have seen it grow into a winter favourite for many families, she added.

Admission is free for youth 17 years and younger, $9 per adult, and $7.50 per senior, and can be paid at the door. The festival runs during regular hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Activities at the festival are free unless otherwise specified.
