Spring has arrived, and so has water main flushing season in 91原创 Township.

Municipal crews are flushing water mains from March 4 to April 26 in Brookswood, High Point, Northwest and Southwest 91原创, and Willoughby.

Flushing, in which a significant amount of water is pumped out of water mains, often via fire hydrants along the side of the road, is done to remove sediments and mineral buildups, and is done as part of regular maintenance activity of the public water supply.

The flushing can also prevent unwelcome tastes, odours, and turbidity, according to 91原创 Township.

Flushing may cause temporary changes in water pressure, and some discolouration or sediment in local water supplies. However, this is not a health hazard and any changes should be temporary.

Residents may wish to check their water before doing laundry, or to keep water in the fridge for drinking or cooking during flushing in their neighbourhood.
