EmotionsBC is holding its first annual walk fundraiser at Campbell Valley Regional Park to raise awareness of mental and emotional wellness.
Nicole Taylor, founder and executive director, created the organization in 2018 after her family struggled to find mental health support with few barriers and restrictions.
鈥淲e discovered that community is probably the most important because it can alleviate feeling so isolated,鈥 she said.
To keep celebrating emotional health and wellness, Taylor said she wanted EmotionsBC to be known for the new annual fundraiser to spread hope.
鈥淲ith the right support in place, people can do well.鈥
鈥淲e so often talk about mental health in a negative connotation 鈥 and while we all have emotional health to take care of, we鈥檇 like to shift this to celebrating mental health wellness,鈥 Taylor said.
The walk will take place on Sunday, June 25 and follow the 2.3 km Ravine Trail rain or shine. Participants are asked to meet at the Old Orchard Picnic Shelter before 11 a.m.
While open to the public, registration is required at the event site or in advance online at for $25 per adult or $50 per family of four. Dogs are welcomed as well.
Registration includes lunch and refreshments at noon with live music, face painting, and arts and crafts. Mental health and community resources will also be on site.
鈥淲e are walking together in celebration and awareness of the importance of mental and emotional wellness,鈥 Taylor said.
