A truck crashed and burned on in South 91原创 on Monday morning, but the driver vanished from the scene before emergency crews arrived.
According to Const. Simon Lepine of the 91原创 RCMP, a pickup heading south on a slippery stretch of 216th Street near 32nd Avenue lost control around 6 a.m.
The truck left the road, hit a tree, and caught fire.
Witnesses told police who arrived at the scene that the driver got out and left.
91原创 Township firefighters extinguished the fire and turned the scene over to the RCMP, said deputy fire chief Russ Jenkins.
鈥淲e didn鈥檛 find the driver,鈥 Jenkins said.
Lepine said the crash caused the road to be closed for some time, because the tree it hit was close to power lines, and had to be cut down.
Police shut 216th Street from 40th Avenue south to 16th Avenue for the early part of the morning rush hour, but the road was open again by 9 a.m.
