Jodi Steeves, the president of the Aldergrove Business Association, is looking forward to the 91原创 Good Times Cruise-In.

This is one in a series of special 91原创 Advance Times stories about what to expect at this year鈥檚 91原创 Good Times Cruise-In, happening Saturday, Sept. 7, in Aldergrove. You can also check out this series in our special keepsake edition hitting the streets on Wednesday and available in limited quantity at the car show.

Aldergrove residents and business owners can expect crowds of 60,000-plus to pack into the Fraser Highway strip between 264 and 272 Streets on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Street banners are already up for the mile-long car show with lineups of classic cars, hot rods, customs, marketplace vendors, and other popular features.

The annual 91原创 Good Times Cruise-In charity car show, running for 27 years now, is being welcomed back by local businesses.

Due to the road closures required for the Cruise-In, the way business is done during the weekend may need to change to maximize sales, explained Jodi Steeves, president of the Aldergrove Business Association.

鈥淪uch as offering grab-and-go food items or setting up a table out front of your business to make it easy for the consumer to see what you are offering. Creating special offers that are Cruise-In related may be beneficial to draw crowds,鈥 she said.

The association, which represents Aldergrove-area businesses, and has about 100 members, is also planning to spruce up the Fraser Highway in advance of the event, encouraging local merchants to decorate their premises and planning a cleanup sweep by volunteers in the days leading up the event.

Steeves said it will "help with the preparation needed for such a large community event."

Steeves added that Cruise-In president Marty Brown has an area for the ABA and its members to use to promote their products and services.

Local businesses can book a time slot for the day of the car show between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Flyers were delivered last week to businesses in Aldergrove with a map of road closures, bathroom locations, and included details on how to reserve at spot at Cruise-In.

鈥淚t will be helpful for them to know where parking is, bathrooms, and first aid, in order to direct Cruise-In guests to their desired locations,鈥 she added.

The ABA is encouraging shop owners to sell items directly related to the business so Cruise-In guests think of it the next time they visit Aldergrove.

She also suggests businesses decorate storefronts in car-related themes and tidy up the space to make a positive impression on all those visitors.

Last year鈥檚 event was a 鈥渉it,鈥 Steeves said, calling Cruise-In a perfect platform to showcase what Aldergrove has to offer.

There will be plenty of paid public parking at nearby schools, including Aldergrove Community Secondary and Betty Gilbert Middle School to the south of the main display area. There is additional spectator parking at Jackman Philip Park. And a shuttle service returns this year to get folks to and from the parking areas. Specific pickup points will be posted on the Cruise-in website.

The Cruise-In is run entirely by volunteers, so every dollar raised 鈥 last year it was about $80,000 鈥 goes straight to local charities.

The Cruise-In car show takes place along Fraser Highway between 264 and 272 Streets in downtown Aldergrove on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Spectators are invited to attend as early as 8:30 a.m. The show wraps up at about 4 p.m.
