91原创 is brewing with excitement this week.
A group of local breweries and distilleries are celebrating the emerging artisan beverage scene with the second annual 91原创 Craft Beverage Week that started Friday, May 10.
Tim LaHay, managing director at The Barley Merchant Taproom and Kitchen which is participating in beverage week, said its going to be a party with 10 days of fun things to do around town.
When Barley Merchant opened, people gathered regularly as a group to launch initiatives together such as Fraser Valley Cidery鈥檚 Summer Social, Brewhalla Beer and Music Festival in Fort 91原创, and the WassALE Festival, he explained.
鈥淥ver the last few years, the 91原创 craft community has quickly evolved into a diverse, supportive, collaborative group of friends eager to work together to elevate each other鈥檚 brands and put what we all do into the local spotlight.鈥
Popular returns on Saturday, May 18, from noon to 6 p.m. at Fort 91原创 Park.
But a new event is wrapping up the week this year.
Spirits in the Park takes place Sunday, May 19, at Fort 91原创 Park from 2 to 5 p.m. The afternoon will feature live music and tastings from more than 10 distilleries, and from some local breweries and cideries.
鈥淭his event will be a really great opportunity to sip and sample many of these locally made spirits and introduce folks to local alternatives to the mass-produced options in the marketplace,鈥 LaHay said.
Attendees of Brewhalla can receive $20 off their tickets to Spirits in the Park when purchasing tickets at .
